Into the Water by Paula Hawkins (A Review)

Hey guys! So I'm back after a looong break! So far, my past posts have been kind of touchy and emotional and all that, so today, I thought I might do something a bit different. Today I'll be reviewing a book. Well, you know, books are one of my favorite things in this world (movies, music, art and perfumes are others lol!!). I'll be reviewing Into the Water by Paula Hawkins.

Oh where do I even start with this one! Oh I really do love a thriller, book or movie. So when my teacher gave me this book to read, I was so excited. I mean, I did really love The Girl on the Train by the same author. Honestly, it kept me up for a couple of nights, because I was so impatient to finish it. It was simply unputdownable! Okay, let's come back to this gem!
Paula Hawkins certainly didn't disappoint this time either. In a word, it was amazing!!! The novel tells the story of two sisters. Nel Abbott is the hot one, the girl whom boys lust after, the popular kid in town. Her, sister Julia is the homely one, and trust me she doesn't feel quite good about it. She also has a particular dislike towards her sister, one that stems from jealousy, need and a very grave misunderstanding.
When Nel dies by drowning in the infamous Drowning Pool, Julia has to come back. To investigate her sister's death and also to look after her teenage niece, Nel's daughter. But Julia is afraid of her long-buried memories, of the old Mill House. She also has a strange intuitive feeling that Nel would never consciously jump to her own death in the water.

It is a well written story, one that understands the nature of human instincts, all of it brought together by Hawkins' propulsive writing. It will take you along with it, transporting its reader to the depths of its characters' mind, as if you are one of them, just as scared, just as thrilled. It tells about the story of people's past and how potent it can be on their present lives.

It subconsciously tells us about the outcomes of little disputes and misunderstandings, of words said and unsaid, of feelings buried deep and of secrets no one ever bothers to comprehend.
It also tells how things can change, once you let go of all that is holding you back. It's a story of survival, a story of coming to terms with one's own demons. It's a story that makes you realize the value of relations, and also its dangers.

If you're a lover of thrillers and books which are just, you know, deep; then this is a book for you. No doubt about it. And even if you are not so much into thrillers, give this book a try, I'm pretty sure you'll like it. Just like her amazing debut novel, Hawkins' has written this novel with an explosive passion that will never disappoint its reader.

Go on, give this a try, and let me know what you think! So until next time, bye bye!
